SL Libraries 4 Newbies![]() Text and Photos by RENEEILENE SPIRITWEAVER This was the winning entry in the Library category for our November article writing contest Isaac Asimov on the Barnes Space Station display Rachelville created by the author. Pictured here is the author, Rocky Vallejo, and Franja Russell. Once upon a time, in a library far, far away…..alright, the library wasn’t so far away. Public Library Group is Reborn![]() Text and Photo by BOOKIE BALOGH Leeorie Alter After a period of inactivity, the Public Library group has come to life once more, under the able care and ownership of Leeorie Alter. Alter says, “there are very few SL projects originating from real life libraries; that is one of the issues I would like to see the group ... Public Libraries | Sunday, 1 November 2009 Read more |
Johnson & Wales Opens its SL Library![]() Text and Photos by BOOKIE BALOGH A new resident of Cybrary City II is the Johnson & Wales Library, headed by Barbarathelibrarian Magic, who took over the building from Abbey Zenith and made modifications to further accommodate the educational needs of JW University. Johnson & Wales' dean, Rosita Hopper, is very supportive of the use of technology within the educational program, and has been a stimulating force behind the creation of the JW Library in SL focusing on culinary resources. The building itself is magical - transparent and open, with wonderful landscaping. The catalog brings together the resources of all four Johnson & Wales campus libraries, and the library provides information literacy support for the university's students. The first floor is devoted to culinary arts; the second to education and hospitality; and the third is a culinary herb garden ... Academic Libraries | Wednesday, 2 September 2009 Read more |
